Siatista – Ieropigi – Krystallopigi
This vertical axis (VA-45.0) forms part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). It connects Greece with Pogradec–Kafasan–Durrës in Albania and constitutes a branch of Pan-European Corridor VIII.
Technical Characteristics
The 72 km axis was constructed as a four-lane motorway (two lanes plus an emergency lane per direction), with eight grade-separated interchanges and engineering structures totaling 3.4 km in length.
Thessaloniki – Serres – Promachonas
This 96 km axis is an extension of Pan-European Corridor IV (Berlin–Prague–Budapest–Sofia–Greek–Bulgarian border) and a key link between Greece’s road network and Bulgaria. Its completion from Thessaloniki to Sofia is a priority project at both national and European levels.
Technical Characteristics
Built as a four-lane motorway, with two traffic lanes plus an emergency lane per direction.
Chalastra – Evzonoi
The existing Chalastra–Evzonoi axis, which extends the Athens – Thessaloniki – Evzonoi motorway to the Evzonoi border station, is planned to be upgraded into a closed-access motorway, with technical characteristics equivalent to those of the main Egnatia Odos axis.
